Tropical System Invest 92L Has 90 Percent Chance of Formation

MIAMI — Showers and thunderstorms are gradually becoming better organized in association with a tropical wave located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands according to the National Hurricane Center.

NHC added environmental conditions appear conducive for additional development, and a tropical depression is now likely to form over the next couple of days.

This system is expected to move westward at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic through the middle part of this week.

#Invest92L continues to have a 90% chance of storm development over the next two to seven days,” Centro Meteorológico de Puerto Rico y el Caribe said. “The CNH estimates the development of a tropical depression or tropical storm during the next two days. The system’s areas of convection and thunderstorms have increased in the past few hours. Once it becomes a tropical cyclone, we will have a better idea of how to predict its future direction and intensity.”

  • Formation chance through 48 hours – high – 80 percent.
  • Formation chance through 7 days – high – 90 percent.
