CHRISTIANSTED — The boyfriend of a former Home Depot employee accused of stealing a $1,300 refrigerator has been charged with multiple crimes in connection to the theft.
Lou Hermon, 55, of St. Croix was arrested and charged with grand larceny, embezzlement by employee, and conspiracy, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The Economic Crimes Unit began investigating a complaint filed by the Home Depot on December 16, 2024, according to the VIPD.

During the course of the investigation, former employee Sheba Young was identified as a suspect and arrested in connection to this incident, police said.
The investigation also revealed that Hermon, who is Young’s boyfriend, left the Home Depot with the stolen
refrigerator operating his personal vehicle and later refused to say where he delivered the item or to whom, according to police.
“As a result of this investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Lou Hermon,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.
Hermon surrendered without incident to officers at the Wilbur H. Francis Police Station on Monday, according to Chichester.
At that time, he was served with a warrant for his arrest, advised of his rights, and taken into official custody, police said. Hermon was then booked and processed.

Bail for Hermon was set at $35,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility in Golden Grove.
Hermon was scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court today.
