FREDERIKSTED — Liberty V.I. said it will start “restoration work” on the Queen Mary Highway in St. Croix on Sunday, January 19.
The road work is part of the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) project which will provide access to high-speed internet connectivity to all homes and businesses in the territory.
The project, which is scheduled to be completed on that same day, will involve sealing an existing 1,400-feet trench line staring at Paradise Road intersection and going west along the Queen Mary Highway. Construction will take place on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The job will be performed by PMRG with minimal traffic impact. However, drivers within the area should expect delays due to lane and partial road closures and must exercise caution when traveling on the narrow roadways.
Liberty VI will be providing updates on its website https://www.libertyvi.com/news on when and where the company will be working around the territory so people can plan their daily commutes ahead of time.
Fiber to the Home (FTTH) is a broadband internet technology that uses glass or plastic fiber optic cables to transmit data.
FTTH provides a direct connection to the internet by running fiber optic cables from the internet service provider’s network to a home.
