SAN JUAN — Today will be mostly cloudy and windy with a few showers with a high temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit, AccuWeather said. Tonight will be mostly clear and warm with a low temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck around 60 miles (100 kilometers) north-northeast of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic at 1:48 a.m. AST, the National Weather Service said.

“There is NO tsunami hazard for the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico,” the NWS said on X. “This magnitude is preliminary and subject to review.”
The quake struck at a depth of 29 miles (46 kilometers). No injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, closer to home, there is a moderate risk of rip currents for today, according to the NWS.

The probability of precipitation increases today, the NWS said.
Expect a ponding of water in roadways and areas that drain poorly, according to the NWS.
