Occasional showers and life-threatening rip currents

SAN JUAN — A perturbation in the atmosphere is expected to reach our area today, which will increase shower activity in the islands, the National Weather Service said.

We can expect mainly fair weather conditions with occasional showers through the rest of the workweek, according to the NWS.

Swimmers should know there is a moderate risk of “life-threatening” rip currents with waves up to 5-feet high, the NWS said.

Mariners should expect hazardous marine conditions through tomorrow at 6:00 a.m., according to the NWS.

Meanwhile, there is an elevated fire danger risk for the southern hills and southern coastal plains of Puerto Rico from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. today, the NWS said.
