77-year-old Alfred Oscar arrested for DUI

FREDERIKSTED — A 77-year-old man was charged with impaired driving after being involved in a two-car crash near a Hannah’s Rest gas station, authorities said.

Alfred Oscar, of St. Croix, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The case began at 8:14 a.m. on April 25, 2025, when a patrol bureau officer was traveling west to a call for service on the Queen Mary Highway when they encountered an auto collision near Amigo’s Service Station, according to the VIPD.

VIPD mug shot of Alfred Oscar, 77, of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Upon stopping and interviewing both motorists, Alfred Oscar slurred his speech when responding to the patrol officer, police said.

At the same time, Oscar was holding onto his vehicle for balance during the interview and acknowledged that he had been drinking, according to police.

A Field Sobriety Test was conducted, which Oscar failed, police said.

Oscar was placed under arrest, then released after he surrendered his Virgin Islands driver’s license, according to police.
