Body found floating in the lagoon at Red Hook spurs investigation

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A body discovered floating in the sea near the Red Hook Ferry Terminal Sunday morning left onlookers in St. Thomas shocked.

Lennox Todman, 65, was positively identified by a family member as the deceased, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The case began at 8:05 a.m. when a concerned citizen reported to 911 dispatch that there was a body floating in the area of the lagoon at Red Hook, according to the VIPD.

Responding officers, along with rescue personnel, traveled to the area and discovered an unresponsive male floating in the lagoon, police said.

Todman displayed no outward signs of life and when emergency personnel examined him for vital signs,, he was found to have none, according to police.

The official cause of death for Todman will be determined by the St. Thomas-St. John Medical Examiner’s Office.

This case is currently being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit.
