Bryan endorses Vice President Kamala Harris for Democratic presidential nominee

CHRISTIANSTED — Governor Albert Bryan today announced his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States in the upcoming 2024 election.

“I want to start by expressing my deep appreciation for President Joe Biden as he announces his decision not to seek reelection. This decision underscores who he is at his core—a true public servant whose career has been dedicated to the betterment of our nation,” Governor Bryan stated. “President Biden’s legacy is one of significant consequence; his administration has not only steadied our pursuit of a perfect union but has also supported our working-class citizens with unprecedented investments in infrastructure and job creation, along with a substantial reduction in student debt.”

“We in the Virgin Islands are particularly grateful for his unwavering support in our recovery efforts with the reduction in the local match for our disaster projects from 10% to 2% and 5%. His prudence is a testament to a lifelong commitment to the American people. Thank you, Mr. President.”

Bryan continued.

“As we endorse Vice President Harris, we recognize the vital need for her leadership to extend beyond previous efforts and directly address the ongoing challenges of territorial parity and equality. Our endorsement comes with the firm expectation that these pressing issues will be actively prioritized in her policy agenda.”

“Vice President Harris’s leadership qualities, demonstrated commitment to social justice, and her role in the current administration make her a promising candidate to lead our nation,” said Governor Bryan. “We anticipate that her approach to governance will include effective solutions that embrace the needs of all American territories.”

“As the U.S. Virgin Islands look towards further recovery and growth, continued support from the federal government is essential,” Bryan said. “Our community, along with other U.S. territories, seeks a future where our concerns are met with action and respect. We trust that the next administration will uphold and expand upon this commitment.”
