KINGSHILL — Officers arrested a man after they say he pulled a handgun out during a fight that began at a gas station and spilled over into a supermarket parking lot in La Reine Friday morning, police said.
Clemence King, 65, of St. Croix, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The case began at 9:17 a.m., when patrol officers were dispatched to investigate a verbal altercation that began at Moe’s Service Station and concluded at the nearby Pueblo Supermarket La Reine parking lot, “where the argument then escalated to a physical fight between two men,” according to the VIPD.

Responding officers encountered two males involved in a physical altercation, police said.
The fight was broken up, the two men separated “and a licensed firearm that was used to threaten the victim was seized and turned over as evidence in the case,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.
King was taken into official custody. He was taken to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station where he was booked and processed.
Bail for King was set at $25,000.00.
A Superior Court judge allowed King to be released upon his own recognizance after posting $1,000.00 bail.
King was scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court today.
