Police Investigating Shooting On Coki Point Road In St. Thomas Just After Midnight

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating a shooting that took place just after midnight on Coki Point Road in St. Thomas, authorities said.

Emergency 911 dispatchers sent officers from the Mariel C. Newton Command to “an unknown individual laying on the public roadway in the area of Coki Point Road” about 12:25 a.m. today, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Upon officers’ arrival, they observed a black unknown male who sustained a gunshot wound to the area of the lower abdomen,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “The victim was then transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center to seek medical treatment for his gunshot wound where he remains in stable condition at this time.”

This case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
