Annas Retreat Residents Given Notice Of Road Closings To Tutu-Hi Rise Buildings

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Virgin Islands Housing Authority notified residents of Annas Retreat that roads will be closed leading to and from the Estate Tutu Hi-Rise area tomorrow.

Roads will be closed from Estate Tutu Hi Rise’s Community Center throughout the community (Buildings 10 – 22) also known as “Ras Valley,” VIHA said. These road closings will go into effect on Monday April 19.

“The roadway adjacent to Building 14 leading to Holy Family Church will remain open for motorists,” VIHA spokesman George Silcott said. “Please be advised that pedestrians will continue to have access to their homes and businesses by controlled walkways.”

Demolition activities will be taking place from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to VIHA.

Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority will continue its door-to-door waste collection service for residents in the surrounding Annas Retreat area. No additional dumpsters will be available for non-residents.

The fencing and road closure will remain in effect until all five buildings are demolished and the area is safe for public transit,” Silcott said. Please adhere to all safety controls and precautions, so we can maintain a safe functioning environment for all working and traversing the site. Your patience is appreciated as we continue our hurricane recovery efforts.”
