KINGSHILL — A concerned St. Croix citizen is calling on the chief executive and a member of the Senate to look at a giant pothole in Estate Bethlehem that has morphed into a “giant sinkhole.”
“This is a major access road between Midland and Centerline. It runs alongside the National Guard base and connects to the Guard’s main entrance,” John Eastman wrote on Facebook. “It’s beyond potholes! It’s turned into a GIANT SINKHOLE in a matter of weeks and will be impassable soon.”
“Some heavy trucks are using this road, Casper Holstein Drive more frequently since there are commercial traffic restrictions and closed roads blocking their path through other nearby roads,” Eastman continued.
The taxpayer is telling Senator Samuel Carrion, Governor Albert Bryan today: “sirs, this needs to be a priority.”
“There are commercial traffic restrictions on Centerline (due to washed out bridges over drainage guts) that force trucks either South to the Melvin Evans Highway or North to Midland Road,” Eastman said. “Then, further East on Midland, another commercial traffic restriction (also a washed out bridge) forces trucks onto Casper Holstein heading South back to Centerline.”
“The alternate road running N/S next to the ag fair grounds is closed for bridge repair. (At least they are doing that!)” he said. “Maybe when that road between Midland and Centerline reopens then they can close Casper Holstein and FIX IT! (Please hurry.)It’s not helping what is already a nasty situation due to poor drainage.”
