CHARLOTTE AMALIE — An Arizona man with a long rap sheet who was shot in the head at Tutu Hi-Rise two months ago has died, bringing the territory’s total homicide count to 50 for the year.

Lee Jamal Seagojo, 28, of Phoenix, was air evacuated to hospital in Puerto Rico where he died of his injuries after the shooting on Monday.

Seagojo had been in a coma since being sent to Puerto Rico and was scheduled to appear in Superior Court about a criminal matter yesterday, but could not appear — because he was dead. He was shot on Aug. 27.

While free on $1,000 bail after being arrested May 17 and being charged with constructive possession, Seagojo was riding in a car that was involved in a drive-by shooting.

The driver of the vehicle said he went to Tutu Hi-Rise to pick up a friend when another car pulled up alongside and two men jumped out and opened fire.

The driver escaped the shooting by running away, but Seagojo stayed in the vehicle and was hit by gunfire.

After the shooters returned to their vehicle and drove off, the driver returned to his car and saw that Seagojo had a gunshot wound to the head.

He then drove him to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Seagojo has a history of criminal involvement dating back to 2013 and had been charged with multiple crimes in Maricopa County, Arizona, including: carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and felony theft — possession of stolen property.
