FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix teenager is in official custody after police said he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl last month.

Ryheim Moncherry, 19, of Frederiksted, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree aggravated rate, first-degree rape and first-degree unlawful sexual contact-domestic violence.

Police said the incident was first reported to authorities by a woman on January 9 and Moncherry was identified as the alleged assailant.

On Friday, an arrest warrant for Moncherry was signed by a Superior Court Magistrate.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) effected the arrest on Moncherry.

Unable to post $150,000 bail set by the court, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
