Wanted Louisiana Fugitive Brandel Berry Captured Within Nine Days By VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — Members of the VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau on St. Croix conducted a joint assignment with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in a search for wanted fugitive Brandel Lynard Berry.

Berry was wanted in connection to a robbery that occurred in Louisiana on January 11. After the robbery, Berry absconded to St. Croix where he was tracked by authorities.

The team made contact with Berry and served him with an arrest warrant that was signed by New Orleans Judge Paul Schneider of Louisiana for first-degree robbery.

Berry, 36, of New Orleans, was placed under arrest pursuant to the arrest warrant on January 20, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

He was booked and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing. He awaits extradition back to Jefferson Parish, New Orleans.

On Facebook, Berry says he is a scaffold builder in Louisiana.
