LOS ANGELES — This weekend’s Super Bowl event in California was not overlooked by local and federal authorities as they coordinated to closely monitor activities inside and outside SoFi Stadium to prevent any attacks at what will be the West Coast’s biggest event in years, taking place amid the ongoing crime wave rocking the area.

Preserving the safety of the millions of people who will gather near Inglewood for Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals will require thousands of law enforcement personnel to be on hand to protect fans and spectators who come to the stadium or simply want to experience the atmosphere of Super Bowl LVI up close.

In addition to an increased law enforcement presence, more than 500 Department of Homeland Security personnel will provide land, sea and air security along with other federal agencies at the game.

“The nature of the Super Bowl makes the event a target for attacks and criminal threats”, told Fox News Digital, Pete Eliadis, president of Intelligence Consulting Partners.

Part of that unprecedented security for an American sporting event will be two peace officers from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Virgin Islands Port Authority’s K9 Officers Ryan Thomas (and Henny), and Shaquella Wyllis (and Luna) were selected to compliment police security at the nation’s big event tomorrow.
