CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Super Bowl LVI will attract hundreds of fans territory-wide tomorrow.
To help keep motorists, passengers, and other road users safe, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is teaming up with the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) and the Virgin Islands Office of Highway Safety (VIOHS) to remind football enthusiasts that Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.
This Super Bowl Sunday, be a team player and remember that impaired driving is illegal. As a designated
sober driver, take your role seriously.
• If you are attending a party, enjoy the food and refrain from alcoholic beverages or other drugs.
• If someone you know has been drinking and tries to drive, take their keys, and help them get home safely. Even if they make a fuss in the moment, they will thank you later.
• Know the law: Refusing to take a breath test can result in arrest, loss of your driver’s license, and
impoundment of your vehicle. Not to mention the embarrassment of explaining your situation to
family, friends, and employers.
The consequences of drunk driving can be deadly, but they can also be expensive. Drunk drivers can face
jail time, the loss of their driver’s license, have higher insurance rates, and pay fines and fees of up to
approximately $10,000.
This Super Bowl Sunday, make the greatest play of the night by designating a responsible and sober driver, because Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.
