Potential Tropical Cyclone Five is expected to become the third hurricane of 2024 season

SAN JUAN — Potential Tropical Cyclone Five will become a depression early this morning and then will develop into Tropical Storm Ernesto.

As of the 8 a.m. advisory, PTC Five is moving west at 26 mph. It has maximum sustained winds of 30 mph.

It is located about 830 miles east-southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
