St. Croix man accused of child rape, jailed

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was accused Sunday of the rape of minor female, authorities said.

Kenrick Devon Mottley, 36, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape, second-degree rape, first-degree assault, child abuse, and unlawful sexual contact, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

On January 5, 2025, an adult female reported that her minor daughter was raped by an adult male, according to the VIPD.

“The Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives made contact with the minor victim at the Juan Luis Hospital where she was treated as a result of the assault,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

On January 7, 2025, Mottley was present at the Police Operations Building in Frederiksted where he was advised of his Miranda Rights, and he volunteered a statement, according to Chichester.

Mottley was booked and processed in Mars Hill. His bail was set at $100,000.00.

Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility in Golden Grove.

Mottley is scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court.
