With Easter on the horizon, people already on the hunt for the perfect sweets treats to indulge in.
And although Easter delights are available in various shapes and sizes and price points, it seems this year has brought some eye-wateringly expensive options.
Some shoppers are fuming at the steep prices attached to certain beloved Easter eggs, such as the Kinder ones being sold at Tesco for a hefty $28.46 (£22).
This has led customers blaming what they’re calling “greedflation”, suggesting that only those with deep pockets can afford these luxury items, leaving a bitter taste for many.

Glenn Kennedy, who runs a social media group dedicated to the best and worst supermarket finds, made a discovery earlier in the week. On Wednesday (12 March), during a trip to Tesco, he stumbled upon the controversially priced Kinder Easter eggs.
Taking his findings to Facebook, Glenn, from Llandudno, posted images of shelves brimming with the £22 Kinder eggs, sparking outrage among online shoppers who labelled it “‘Greedflation’ at its best”
Tesco shopper Jillian added: “I know I seen them. 22 pound, disgusting – only for the rich.” Others encouraged Glenn to “leave them on the shelves”, and another shoppers said the supermarket was “treating us like idiots”.
On his quest for better value, Glenn checked out B&M for potential deals on his preferred Snickers Easter egg. He found more affordable options like Twix and Maltesers eggs priced at £6, but still didn’t find this acceptable.

A Galaxy Easter egg for a mere $4.52 (£3.50) caught his attention, which Glenn noted “seems to be the standard at the moment” for comparable 200g chocolate eggs.
“The price of chocolate has gone through the roof,” said the thrifty shopper, whose Facebook group with over 416,000 followers. “I question whether suppliers and supermarkets are doing enough to keep the cost down. It’s pretty clear to me that you can just buy a chocolate bar which is the same in weight for a lot less.”
Addressing the controversy over Easter egg prices, a spokesperson for Tesco said: “We have Easter eggs to suit every pocket at Tesco, with full-sized eggs for as little as £1.35 with a Tesco Clubcard to those containing full-sized toys.”
