CBP Officers Stop Minnesota Air Traveler In St. Thomas Airport On Outstanding Warrant: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE – Alert federal officers noticed Monday afternoon that a Minnesota air traveler clearing customs in St. Thomas was wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant and she is now in official custody.

Crystal Renee Simmons, 34 of Coon Rapids, Minn. was arrested at 5:00 p.m. Monday and charged with being a fugitive from justice, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Simmons was detained at the Cyril E. King Airport by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents as she attempted to board a flight, according to the VIPD.

“She has an active warrant from the Sheriff’s Office in Jefferson County, Alabama, wanted for charges of Identity Theft – Obtaining Goods and Services. VIPD detectives were notified, and Simmons was placed under arrestm” police spokesman Toby Derima said.

Simmons was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections without bail, pending her xxtradition hearing, Derima said.
